William GoldberG

William has been flying full time for over 35 years in 74 countries and has been a full time TBM instructor since 2014.  He has over 2800 hours instructing recurrent and initial pilots in all models of TBM aircraft.    He has trained an estimated 1500 pilots in his career and estimated 300 pilots trained in TBM aircraft.

This instruction time is in addition to over 16000 hours total time in aircraft with missions ranging from law enforcement to the Alaska bush to air ambulance to corporate aviation to military surveillance and reconnaissance.  He fully understand the interface between flight mission requirements, aircraft capability and human performance.  William has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a masters degree in human factors in aviation.

William resides with his family on a cattle ranch near Covington, GA, but travels to clients all over the globe for on site initial and transition training.

When not flying, William he loves spending time with his wife and their children, hunting, photography and amateur radio.

William is both a teacher and student of TBM flying and is committed to leading an organization that provides the best in-cockpit training available for TBM-series aircraft .

Kip Wintenburg

Kip has an incredible wealth of aviation experience.  He has over 1,700 hours instructing recurrent and initial pilots in all models of TBM aircraft.  This instruction time is in addition to over 8,000 hours total time in aircraft under 12,500 lbs. and more than 27,000 hours in aircraft over 12,500 lbs.  He has trained an estimated 3000 pilots in his career and estimated 300 pilots trained in TBM aircraft.

Kip has been a flight standards and training pilot, line check airman and has written flight procedures for airliners.  He has managed dispatch, maintenance, flight crew personnel and day to day financials of B777 operations.  Rounding out his deep flying resume is commercial seaplane and glider ratings. 

 He is based in Long Beach, CA and has long experience flying over six continents. 

 In time outside the cockpit, Kip enjoys genealogy, reading and hiking.

 Goldberg Aviation is privileged to have Kip as part of our instructor cadre.

Martina Wegscheider

Martina has been flying full time for over 18 years and has been a full time TBM instructor since 2012.  She has over 1500 hours instructing recurrent and initial pilots in all models of TBM aircraft.    She has trained an estimated 1000 pilots in his career and estimated 200 pilots trained in TBM aircraft.

With over 8000 flight hours, Martina, a native of Austria, has accomplished a series of firsts.  With encouragement of her father, became the youngest female glider and private pilot in Austrian history.  After moving to California and working on all of her ratings, she flew and instructed in airships and eventually became the first woman ever hired at Goodyear to pilot their airships.  At the same time, Martina earned SIC in jet aircraft.

Martina also provides time and cost efficient, one-on-one, video ground school that saves our busy and remote clients time and money in both initial and recurrent training.

Martina resides with her family near Camarillo, CA, but travels to clients all over North America for on-site initial and transition training.

When not flying, Martina is a busy mom.

Jerry Esses

Jerry’s splits his time between instruction and Part 135 missions in a Lear 60. His flying experience and, in particular, experience with Pratt and Whitney engines is singular. He has 25 years experience with P&W engines while being type rated in 10 jet types.

Jerry has over 13,000 flight hours with over 2,100 hours in turboprops — of which over 200 are in TBM aircraft.  He has instructed over 3,500 pilots in all types of aircraft and over 200 in TBM (or turboprops).  He instructs in all TBM models and holds CFI, CFII and MEI certificates.

He is based in Camarillo, CA and travels worldwide.

In time when he isn’t flying, Jerry enjoys hiking, gardening and real estate investing.

Dave Thibodeaux

Dave has some of the most diverse aviation experience imaginable.  Not only has he been an Air Force pilot, military instructor pilot, civilian simulator instructor, he has also served a military air traffic controller in Japan, taught high school junior ROTC and been both a military and civilian operations officer.  Since September 2017, Dave has brought his experience to Goldberg Aviation as a mentor pilot and ferry pilot with over 300 TBM hours.  He will be giving TBM instruction starting in summer 2019.

With over 8,500 total hours (nearly all of it in turbine aircraft), Dave has over 3,000 instruction hours and has trained over 200 pilots.  His type ratings include DC-10 and Bombardier Dash 8 and has given instrument instruction in Cessna’s military trainer, the military version of the Beechcraft BE-200 and the DC-10.  He is proficient in TBM700, 850, 900 and 930.

Dave is located in Hainesport, New Jersey to easily serve northeast-based clients and travels worldwide for Goldberg Aviation.

Dave loves a well struck golf ball, first tracks on a powder day, the smell of freshly sawn mahogany and the bouquet of a mid-1980’s Bordeaux.

DEAN JOHNSON

Dean Johnson is on a flying sabbatical from his business career—and that sabbatical could last a while.

Dean has progressed from a Cessna Cardinal to Mooney M20J to Beechcraft A36 to Lancair ES-P and now to a TBM700B. On the other end of the aviation spectrum, he loves flying his Glasair Sportsman taildragger. He is a member of the EAA Finance Committee and was a former member of the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport Commission.

Like the Wright brothers, Dean is keen cyclist and rides at least 4,000 miles per year throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Kevin Loppnow

Kevin is a full time professional pilot and has been flying since he was 16 and an instructor since he was 18.  

He has over 9,000 hours total time of which over 1,500 hours have been in TBM aircraft.   He has instructed for over 6,000 hours total with over 300 in TBM aircraft comprising over 30 TBM pilots.  

Kevin’s aviation expertise runs the gamut from being a tailwheel and seaplane instructor to being type-rated as single pilot Citation Jet.  Serving Goldberg clients in the midwest from his base in Wausau, WI, Kevin is particularly skilled in IFR, night and mountain flying instruction.

Kevin loves cycling, skiing, hiking and golf.

Tristan Charney

Tristan has most of his 4,000 hours in rotorcraft, but has deep experience in turbine operations with over 1,050 hours rotorcraft and TBMs.  His instruction experience has been as a mentor pilot in TBM850 with G1000 with over 100 TBM hours and over 550 hours instruction overall.  Tristan is qualified to instruct in single engine land, multiengine land and rotorcraft and has instructed over 25 pilots.   In addition to his aviation credentials, Tristan also holds an MBA.

Tristan resides in southwestern Oregon and travels worldwide.

Outside of flying, Tristan enjoys hunting, fishing, history and motorcycles.

Chad Fortenberry

Chad’s full-time job is flying Challenger 300 and Citation X jets and brings his over 6,700 hours flying experience to instructing.  Chad has over 3,000 hours of dual given in high performance Cessnas, MClass Pipers and TBMs.  He conducts owner and professional transition training in both aircraft and avionics.  He has expertise with the Garmin 1000, NXI, Garmin 3000 and Garmin 5000.

Chad has been endorsed by Bombardier for flights into Aspen, CO  – an airport that require skilled airmanship and expert situational awareness — as well as years of experience in the mountains (Eagle County, CO). 

Chad is based in Dallas, but can travel worldwide.

Outside aviation, Chad is a fan of running, lifting weights and snow skiing.

Rock Palermo

Rock’s regular job is as an attorney in his own firm in Lake Charles, LA, but his passion is aviation and serving his community.  He has ATP-MEL (in the Eclipse 500), CFI, CFII, MEI, and Commercial ASEL and Rotorcraft certificates.  He has nearly 4,000 hours of which nearly 500 are in jets and TBMs.  Rock is particularly interested helping pilots transition to advanced avionics and flying in the flight levels. 

Rock's wide aviation experience gives him an unrivaled view of the multifaceted aviation industry in the United States. Rock has served as National Legal Officer for Civil Air Patrol.   He serves as Chief Pilot for his local sheriff office aviation unit, as a WINGSPro Representative for the FAA's FAASTeam, and as a member of the Lake Charles Regional Airport Authority.  The U.S. Coast Guard, Civil Air Patrol, local Sheriff’s office, and the Mutual Aid Association have honored Rock’s service.

One would not think that Rock had time for more interests, but when not serving, flying or lawyering, he enjoys scuba diving and spending time with his family.
